UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities and colleges in India.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have a Master's Degree from a recognized university.
  • General / EWS candidates must have at least 55% marks.
  • OBC / SC / ST / PwD candidates must have at least 50% marks.

Age Limit for JRF

  • General / EWS → Maximum 30 years
  • OBC → Relaxation of 3 years (Maximum 33)
  • SC / ST / PwD → Relaxation of 5 years (Maximum 35)

There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility.
